A Dream Within A Dream
Edgar Allen Poe Postcard Series

The graphic design assignment included creating a poetic post card series and learning the benefits and challenges of working in a group setting. Through a 5-person collaborative group project, we focused on analyzing a poem of our choice agreement: Edgar Allen Poe’s poem, A Dream Within A Dream manifesting a post card series. As part of a group, I contributed in the process of ideation through production as we had multiple revisions of this project. 

Letterpress typography and textured image were used to elicit impressions and change in Poe’s illusive state of mind through group interpretation of the poem. When interacting with the graphic solution and removing a postcard, the audience is left with an impression, one of the poem’s stanzas, which is a direct reflection of the image. The deep eggplant tones contrast ing with shades of black and white showcase the mystery of the mind and Poe’s intuitive somber-style of writing.
